Secret bookCHAISE DU JARDIN DU LUXEMBOURG

Created in 1612 at the request of Marie de Médicis, the Jardin du Luxembourg is one of the springtime meeting places for lovers of Paris. Marin Montagut sketches it through one of its most illustrious accessories: its emblematic green chair, the “CHAISE DU LUXEMBOURG”. The watercolor illustration is presented here in the form of a Livre À Secrets.

Used in France since the 18th century, secret books make it possible to hide our little treasures. The pages of the books were cut out to hide jewelry, precious stones, love letters and other small intimate wonders.

Inspired by this tradition, the "Livres À Secrets" collection, made of papier-mâché, is entirely crafted, painted and numbered by hand in Marin Montagut's workshops in Paris. The interior is lined with marbled bookbinding paper hand-printed in France and contains a ribbon with a key-shaped metal charm at its end.
